IS THERE A HAIRDRYER IN MY ROOM AT THE CASTLE?
Yes- each accommodation has a hair dryer for your use.
DO I NEED A CONVERTER FOR CHARGING THINGS?
Yes. You need a UK converter/adaptor (not a European one) to use appliances and plug in electronics in the UK. Similar to this link here.
WHEN WILL I KNOW MY ROOM ASSIGNMENTS?
Room arrangements will be finalized and guests notified 2 weeks in advanced of the wedding. These arrangements will be based on family groups, participation in the wedding ceremony, and mobility needs.
WHERE IS DRUMTOCHTY CASTLE?
Drumtochty Castle is in the village of Auchenblae in Aberdeenshire county. It's 2 hours northeast of Edinburgh (30 min south of Aberdeen).
IS FOOD INCLUDED?
Yes. Once you arrive on the estate, all meals & snacks are provided. This covers Tuesday afternoon 6/17, through Thursday morning 6/19 brunch. Checkout of the Estate is Thursday at 12 noon.
In addition to scheduled meals, guests assigned to the Estate Cottages and Historic Stables will have their personal kitchens fully stocked before they arrive by a butler service with local milk, eggs, bread, cheese, butter, jam, fruit, cereal, and snacks that incorporate your personal dietary restrictions/allergy needs​ (see allergy section below). Cottages & Stables guests will be expected to enjoy breakfast in their accommodations.
DO I GET MY OWN ROOM?
All couples will be assigned their own bedrooms either in the refurbished 19th century Historic Stables, one of the 4 Estate Cottages, or in the North or West Wings. Those traveling alone may be paired with another guest, but will each have their own twin bed. In this case, you will be contacted ahead of time to ensure your comfort.
DO I GET MY OWN BATHROOM?
While each couple has their own room, in most cases two couples share a bathroom, a fully stocked kitchen, and a living room. In some cases, couples have their own bathroom.
I HAVE FOOD ALLERGIES. WHAT HAPPENS?
Drumtochty Castle prides itself on its excellent reputation for handling allergies and dietary restrictions for guests. Your formal invitations will have allergy RSVP instructions, and each guest's lodging will be noted and their kitchen stocked accordingly, per your individual allergy needs.
WHAT'S THE WEATHER LIKE IN JUNE?
Scotland ranges from 45 degrees Fahrenheit to a high of 65 degrees Fahrenheit during the day in June. (And all year round actually!)
It rains often in Scotland, with a mix of fleeting storms and sunny days in June, so pack a rain layer! We also recommend one pair of waterproof shoes or boots.
You're very likely to experience that misty mountain scenery that Scotland is known for at some point along the way...
